Are AmazonUK conning you today?

OK, we all love a bargain, and Amazon UK do often have some great ones, (today they had a genuine reduction on the Fire Stick, bargain at £19) but as today has gone on, I am getting more and more annoyed by the sheer scale of the deception that appears to be taking place.

What am I talking about?

Screen Shot 2015-07-15 at 08.27.52Take a look at this photo. You save 35% right? Wrong. Its 35% off an RRP sure, but when did Amazon ever charge RRP for this item?

In fact they sold it for £17.99 on June 23rd this year, so it is actually just £3.74 less, certainly not 35%

OK, but what about other sellers? Well, it took me a few seconds to find the same item on 7dayshop for £17.74 and they are not even claiming its in a sale! See photo below for proof.

Here is an even better (or worse!) example. Courtesy of one of my Twitter buddies. (@jcb_digger)

This one is an incredible 76% off, how could you go wrong? Well, you could have bought it for £70 from about this time last year, until May 22nd 2015, when it suddenly went back up to ‘RRP’ of £295. Wonder why that was? Maybe so when today rolls around, they can claim a 76% discount?

This is not just a rant on Amazon by the way, I hate it when companies do this sort of thing, its all too common and people fall for it, just look at the 100% claimed figures for the watch, and I bet at least one person says at work tomorrow “I got a £300 watch on Amazon yesterday for £70″

I am not even saying the watch is a bad deal at £70, clearly it is its proper price, as Amazon has been selling at that price for a long time…and this is not just naughty, its most likely illegal too. Below is a direct quote from a UK Gov website.

Is there honestly any doubt that this is exactly what Amazon are doing here today (and everyday really)

Here is one last example, there are loads more.

A great looking offer, £129.99 instead of £279.99 right?  You know how this works by now.  Courtesy of the excellent 3 Camels tracking site. This item has never been more that £179.99. Ever.

Just to cap that one off, here it is on Argos site (another company that does this bullshit) at £179.99
